$2.4MM Capitol Raised by Windsor Circle

DURHAM, N.C.--()--Windsor Circle, a venture-backed start-up providing Retention Automation software and services for retail and eCommerce firms, announces the completion of a successful Series A-1 funding round at this week’s Internet Summit in Raleigh, NC, where the focus on Big Data and Marketing Automation highlight the growing demand for Windsor Circle’s software. New Funding: Windsor Circle oversubscribed its Series A Prime (A-1) by over 40%, adding approximately $950k in working capital. Windsor Circle has now raised over $2.4MM in venture capital and angel funding in 3 rounds to date, and is projected to end 2013 with more than 200% growth in both revenue and clients. Investors in the round include RTP-based Triangle Angel Partners (TAP), Idea Fund Partners, and Bruce Boehm, formerly of US Venture Partners.

The capital raised will enable a move into the American Underground @Main’s anchor tenant office space, 7+ new hires, and the acceleration of marketing, client acquisition and development.

New Office: Windsor Circle will move into a new office in the American Underground Main St campus in January, 2014. Complete with a bank-vault social room, slide connecting floors, and custom-designed office furniture, the “@Main” campus is one of 7 Google for Entrepreneurs Tech Hubs, and part of a close knit network of three hubs and 100+ businesses in North Carolina’s renowned Research Triangle region.

New Hires: The Company is currently hiring marketing coordinators, salespeople, client success associate, product manager, front-end web developer, and software developer.

Client Acquisition: Funds raised will help Windsor Circle accelerate revenue and client growth. Current clients include Karmaloop, SurfStitch, Case-Mate, and Spangler Candy (maker of Dum Dums).

Spangler Candy (maker of Dum Dums), recently attributed Windsor Circle with their “single highest day of revenue thus far, since our start in e-commerce in 1998,” according to Jim Knight, VP of Marketing / Ecommerce. Windsor Circle’s analysis and integration of purchase history data enabled Spangler Candy to send a targeted thank-you email to new customers who had only purchased once since February 2013, and a “win-back” email to lapsed customers who had not purchased since February 2013, up to 3 years prior. The result was a 2.4 times lift from their average 2013 eCommerce revenue.

Holiday Impact: U.S. eCommerce spending is expected to increase 13.4% this year to touch $262 billion, according to a recent report from Forrester. This season, millions of shoppers will receive personalized, targeted, and relevant emails based on their purchase history, enabled by Windsor Circle’s software. The result for Windsor Circle’s clients since 2012 has been an average increase in the number of repeat buyers by over 46%.
