This session offers a behind-the-scenes tour from a retailer and a vendor expert of what happens in a truly engaging purchase journey – from both the consumer’s and the marketer’s perspective. Improvements to checkout pages are key to an eCommerce site’s success. This session addresses the challenges to swift and easy checkout, such as security requirements, usability and whether to add or leave out features that can either upsell or distract – and how to resolve them.

This session’s speaker, from Usability Sciences, recruited consumers to participate in shopping expeditions in a lab environment. The lab recorded their shopping experiences and running commentary as they bought their items. The usability expert will then provide his own insights as the videos of the shoppers play, and offer takeaways that attendees can apply to their own site redesigns.

In this session, Chico’s, an online apparel retailer, will reveal the kinds of photos that have proven to be attention-grabbers versus those that lead to a sale, as well as outline best practices for managing consumer-generated content. The second speaker, from a photo management company, will share good practices for curating content, managing captions and creating color schemes that consistently produce good results.
